Welcome back for another fabulous year at KPS!
This term we are looking forward to exploring the integrated topic "Bright Ideas". We are talking about all things new and innovative as well as looking at great inventions from the past that have made our life easier. We are spending time using our iPads to research a lot during this topic, and discovering a lot of amazing facts!
This week we are also looking forward to the end of our Creating a Learning Culture units with the whole school activity the "Big Box Challenge". . . more about this soon!

Winter Wonderland. . .
This week Grade 3/4A was very lucky to have the creative talents of Barb S and Annelise F to create our magnificent "Winter Wonderland" corner in our room. Barb was the driving force behind the design, and this has really brought a lovely festive feel to 3/4A as we head towards the end of the year. The students walked in this morning and all you could hear was "Wow" or "Where did that come from? It's amazing!". . . as you can see below - we all love our new festive corner!
This kind of parent help and spirit has always been part of KPS, and I am honoured and humbled by the support I get from our community. I will take this opportunity to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all the incredible parents and students of 3/4A for making 2014 such a memorable year!
Best wishes for the coming holidays everyone, and see you in 2015 - Ms J.

Behind you! Behind you!
Hello everyone -
This week 3/4A have been working hard on some festive style "panto" plays by the author Julie Donaldson (the author of "Room on the Broom", "The Highway Rat" and many more fantastic books). We are enjoying this kind of reading response as it develops our expression and intonation: important skills for independant readers. As you can everyone is rehearsing hard for our Friday performances that we will do with 4A - we can't wait to see the finished results!

Post Camp Reflections. . .
Hello again everyone!
We are well and truly settled back in to work after last week's exciting camp at Arrabri Lodge! We have just had a little time this week to think about and reflect on our camping experience. . . here are some of what the students of 3/4A thought!
Ben H said "The giant swing was the best part of camp. You could put yourself out of your comfort zone if you wanted to, but you didn't have to if you felt like a small swing."
Eric H said "Climbing the steep hill was best because it was tiring and good exercise for you."
Erin C said "The giant swing was the best part for me but I also liked the rock climbing wall because I went nearly all the way around."
Brooke S said "The flying fox was great because it when you hit the tyre at the end it felt like you were going to fall!"
We all had fun together at Arrabri Lodge. . . here are some photos below!

Poem, poem my kingdom for a poem. . .
Hello!
This week in Grade 3/4A we have had a very busy week working on poems. Last week we all wrote a "free verse poem" - our fantastic poems are on display outside the classroom! This week we have worked on "Ode" writing; the lyrical poetic form that praises someone or something. Have a read of Erin C's delightful "Ode to a Pizza" below. . .

Ode to a Pizza
Oh delicious pizza with your topping,
I always buy you when I go shopping.
Your lovely cheese, your tomato paste,
Goes all the way down to my waist.
Oh! That pizza was so yummy,
It taste so good in my tummy.
Maybe next time I will eat,
A pizza that has a bit of meat.

Welcome back for another exciting term in Grade 3/4A!
Hello !
Welcome back to what we're all sure will be en exciting term in 3/4A. We are currently looking forward to our upcoming Museum Excursion next Thursday the 24th, where we will spend time exploring our new topic of Australia's traditional people. Melbourne Museum has a fabulous indigenous garden walk, and we will spend time exploring that when we are there, as well as looking at Melbourne's transport (a tie in to finishing our topic last term).
We are also all busy reading for the Premier's Reading Challenge: remember to log your books in at home or at school. All students have been issued with a password earlier on in the year, and are expected to have logged in all the fabulous reading they have been doing.
